This superfood healthy chocolate bark recipe was the perfect sweet treat to bring to my newly postpartum friend this past weekend. I wanted something that looked special and hit the sweet-tooth spot. Dark chocolate is a god send just by itself – but I do believe this is the way to make it just that much better – add texture and crunch and finish it off by turning it into an edible piece of art. I added dried rose petals, clover flowers and a sprinkle of malden salt to finish.

Chocolate Bark Ingredient List:

  • 2.5 ounces of dark chocolate (70% coco)
  • *Roasted almonds
  • *Roasted pumpkin seeds
  • *Roasted sunflower seeds
  • Goldenberries
  • Coconut shreds
  • Garnish- Rose petals & Red clover flowers(both dried)

*Unsalted

How to make Dark Chocolate Bark:

Weigh out your chocolate to meet approximately 2.5 ounces, this was four standard sized chocolate bars. Break up the chocolate into pieces in place in a glass bowl. Set up a double boiler with the glass bowl floating over the water and melt the chocolate over med heat. Stirring occasionally.

Line a baking pan or sheet with parchment paper. When the chocolate is fully melted sprinkle some of seeds, nuts and golden berries into the chocolate and mix to combine. Pour the chocolate mixture onto the parchment paper lined back vessel and smooth it out using a spatula to your desired thickness(between 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick is good). Artfully decorate the top of the bark with the ingredients and now use the dried rose petals and clover flowers for aesthetic. Sprinkle with malden salt.

Place the container in the refrigerator and allow to cool and fully harden. When ready to cut, remove the parchment paper from the baking pan, then peel the paper from the chocolate bark. Cut into your desired shape and size.

Is chocolate bark gluten free? Yes, this recipe is gluten-free. If your allergy is serious look into the manufacturing location of your ingredients to see if they are processed in a place where cross contamination may be an issue.

Vegan chocolate bark – Some chocolate has milk fat, powder lactose or whey products. Typically dark chocolate – especially extra dark 70% coco – omits any milk, but read the ingredients to make certain. As I stated above, if cross contamination is an issue for you, the packaging will state whether the product is processed in a facility with other common allergens.
