Healthy Homemade Chex Mix

This homemade Chex mix recipe is a make at home diy healthy spin on the bagged classic.  This is the original Chex mix recipe, featuring the classic Chex mix flavors of Worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion, white pepper and seasoned salt.  I mentioned that this is a healthy version – it happens to be both gluten-free and vegan.  The only differing element in this Chex mix is omitting the crispy bagel bread slice and the additional plant-based cracker in replacement.   I looked everywhere for gf Chex mix bagel chips that would work and not be a sacrifice in health due to unfavorable ingredients and there were none to be found.  Regardless of this being a healthier version, it tastes very close to the real thing.  This healthy Chex mix recipe is a winner for sure. It is an easy and delicious snack to eat on the fly or munch on during a game.

If you’re wondering, what are the homemade Chex mix flavors, garlic granules, onion powder, white pepper, seasoned salt, Worcestershire sauce are what bring that classic flavor.

I used to eat Chex mix A LOT in high school and college.  It wasn’t until I got older that I realized that I couldn’t eat the mainstream brand anymore due to all of the unsafe ingredients.  So I decided I had to make my own healthy homemade Chex mix. This Chex mix recipe oven roasted is fool-proof, easy and quick to throw together.

Chex mix recipes are a dime a dozen but this one is unique due to specificity of the brand’s I chose.  I was critical of the ingredient list that makes up each component. No MSG, no natural flavors, no preservatives, no coloring, no canola and no nonsense anything!  That’s why I chose Quinn pretzels – they were the ONLY gluten-free pretzels I could find that didn’t have a bunch of junk in it.  The “rice” gf Chex were also good to go and the brand Ground UP had good plant-based crackers that I used to replace the bagel chips.

There are a ton of Chex mix options to try out – healthy peanut butter Chex mix, healthy fall Chex mix, healthy homemade Chex mix, healthy sweet salty Chex mix recipe, homemade ranch chex mix, homemade cheddar chex mix, homemade chex mix Christmas.

This classic party mix recipe is exactly what you need to make a healthier, at-home version of Chex mix.

Notes:

-I used all gluten-free components such as Quinn pretzels, glute-free Chex made with brown rice flour, plant-based crackers.

-This recipe is also vegan as I used a plant-based butter from the brand Miyokos (the best butter ever!).  I also used a vegan Worcestershire sauce.

-To make homemade chex mix spicy variety, add a conservative amount of cayenne pepper or 1 Tbsp of Tobacco sauce and increase to taste.
