Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 1 hour

Gluten-free and vegan homemade Chex mix original flavor.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Chex
  • 3 cups pretzels
  • 1 cup cashews
  • 1 cup crackers
  • 8 Tbsp butter
  • 3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 225 degrees Fahrenheit.  We cook the Chex mix at this lower temperature to ensure that the moisture from the butter or oil is eliminated but that it doesn’t burn.
  • Add the Chex, pretzels, crackers and cashew to a large bowl.
  • In a small sauce pan melt the butter or add the olive oil to low heat.  Add the Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic, powder, white pepper, seasoned salt and paprika.  Mix until thoroughly combined.
  • Pour the seasoned butter(or oil) over the bowl of dry Chex mix ingredients and toss with hands making sure that all of the ingredients are lightly coated.
  • Spread the seasoned Chex mix over a large baking sheet and stick in the oven for 60 minutes.

Notes

-I used all gluten-free components such as Quinn pretzels, glute-free Chex made with brown rice flour, plant-based crackers.
-This recipe is also vegan as I used a plant-based butter from the brand Miyokos (the best butter ever!).  I also used a vegan Worcestershire sauce.
-To make homemade chex mix spicy variety, add a conservative amount of cayenne pepper and increase to taste.
